Group Travel in Milan: One Sprinter or Two Cars?

Groups of five to eight people sit in an awkward middle ground. Too many for one saloon, sometimes too many for one V-Class with all their luggage, and too few to justify a coach. The usual options are one large vehicle, the Sprinter Luxury VIP, or two smaller cars travelling together. Both work, and both have advantages. This article explains how to choose between them for an airport arrival, a business day or an event.

What the Sprinter Luxury VIP is

The Sprinter Luxury VIP is a Mercedes Sprinter fitted with a VIP interior: comfortable individual seats, space to stand and move, and a large luggage area. It carries up to eight passengers with their bags in one cabin. It is driven by one of our licensed drivers, like every vehicle in our fleet.

The case for one vehicle

The strongest argument for one vehicle is that the group stays together. Everyone leaves at the same time, arrives at the same time and can talk on the way. For a board travelling to a meeting, the journey becomes a chance to prepare. For a family or a group of friends, it is part of the holiday rather than a gap between places.

There are practical benefits too. One vehicle means one driver to coordinate, one pick-up point and one arrival. At the airport, the whole group meets one person in the arrivals hall. At a hotel or a venue, everyone gets out together, rather than the first car waiting for the second. Luggage stays in one place, so nobody has to remember which car took which bag.

The case for two cars

Two cars give flexibility. If part of the group needs to leave early or go to a different address, two cars can split during the day. If the group includes very senior guests who prefer privacy, an S-Class for them and a V-Class for the rest of the group is a common arrangement. Two cars also make sense in places where a large vehicle cannot easily go: some historic centres, narrow mountain lanes or hotel entrances with tight access.

Where the Sprinter is the better choice

In our experience the Sprinter is usually the better choice for airport arrivals of groups with luggage, company roadshows that visit several addresses in a day with the same team, weddings where guests move together between the hotel, the ceremony and the reception, ski groups with equipment, and film or photo crews with cases. In all these situations, staying together and keeping the luggage in one place is worth more than the flexibility of two cars.

Where two cars are the better choice

Two cars are usually better when the group splits during the day, when a senior guest needs privacy for calls, when the destinations include streets or lanes where a large vehicle cannot stop, or when the group is small enough for a V-Class and a saloon to carry everyone comfortably. For a group of five or six with moderate luggage, a single V-Class may also be enough.

Larger groups

For groups larger than eight, the Sprinter can be paired with a V-Class or another vehicle under one booking. Everyone travels on the same schedule, the drivers coordinate between them and there is one written quote. This is a common setup for weddings on Lake Como, company events at Fiera Milano and incentive groups.

Planning the day

For a business day with several stops, send us the full schedule: addresses, meeting times and how long each stop lasts. We plan the route and the buffers between meetings, taking into account Milan's traffic at different times of day. For an event, tell us the timetable and the venues, and whether guests need to move in waves or all at once.

Choosing in practice

If you are unsure, send us the number of passengers, the luggage and the plan for the day. We will suggest one vehicle or two, explain why and quote both if the difference is close. Fixed prices for the Sprinter on the main airport and Lake Como routes are on the Sprinter page; longer routes and full days are quoted in writing.

How to book

Send us the date, the group size, the luggage and the schedule. We reply with a written, all-inclusive price, usually within 30 minutes, and every booking comes with an invoice for company accounts.
