Motorway to Chiusa, then the valley road
Val Gardena is about 310 km from central Milan. The drive runs east on the A4 to Verona, north on the Brenner motorway to the Chiusa exit, then climbs the valley road to Ortisei, Santa Cristina and Selva. In the second half of December the Saslong World Cup downhill brings extra traffic to the valley, and on winter Saturdays the motorway towards the Brenner is busy; we plan departure times with both in mind. From the villages the Sella Ronda circuit starts directly from the slopes. We drop at the Adler Spa Resort Dolomiti and the Gardena Grödnerhof in Ortisei, the Hotel Alpenroyal in Selva and private chalets across the valley. Groups of up to eight travel together in the Sprinter Luxury VIP; families usually choose the V-Class. From Malpensa, add about twenty minutes.
