The easiest big mountain from Milan
Courmayeur is in Italy, and the whole drive stays on the motorway: about 210 km from Malpensa through the Aosta Valley, past Aosta itself, to the foot of Mont Blanc. No passes, no border, and in normal traffic a little over two hours. That makes it a good choice for a long weekend, or for children who do not enjoy mountain roads. The Skyway Monte Bianco cable car starts just outside the village, and Chamonix is about half an hour away through the tunnel if you want a day in France. We drive to the Grand Hotel Royal e Golf, Auberge de la Maison, Le Massif and private chalets in Entrèves and La Saxe. The V-Class takes seven with skis; the S-Class suits two. From central Milan the trip takes around two and a half hours.
