Geneva is about 320 km from Milan. The usual route follows the Aosta Valley motorway to Courmayeur, passes under Mont Blanc into France and reaches Geneva past Chamonix, around four hours in normal traffic. A car makes most sense when you travel with luggage, as a family, or with a fixed appointment at the other end. Business travellers come for the banks and the international organisations; in spring the Watches and Wonders fair fills the hotels for a week. We drop at the Four Seasons Hotel des Bergues, the Beau-Rivage Genève, the Mandarin Oriental or Geneva Airport for an onward flight. A stop in Courmayeur or Chamonix for lunch is easy to add. The S-Class suits one or two passengers; the V-Class carries up to seven with luggage.
