Meetings in Lugano, dinner back in Milan
Lugano is about 80 km from Milan, close enough to treat as a day trip and far enough that a car makes the day easier. The motorway crosses into Switzerland at Chiasso and runs along the lake into town; at the morning peak the border can slow down, so we leave with a margin. Many business clients book the car by the hour: a meeting at a private bank, lunch by the lake and back to Milan for the evening, with the same driver waiting throughout. For hotel stays we drive to the Hotel Splendide Royal, Villa Castagnola and The View Lugano. An E-Class or S-Class suits one or two executives; the V-Class takes a small team with luggage. From Malpensa the trip is around 70 minutes, which makes Lugano a practical first or last night of a longer stay.
